A New Beginning
Listening to 'On The Media' this evening while making supper (Chicken Marsala) and an article about 'Twitter' got me to thinking that while 'Twittering' is not my style, I really should make more of an effort to write down the daily (?) events of interest. (It probably won't fit into the 140-character limits that Twitter imposes.)
So... here we go again.
It's been a crazy summer, with a Midwest vacation, the kids' first summer camp experience (thumbs up all 'round) and an upcoming trip to Conconully with friends this week.
My work with SIGGRAPH was recognized at their annual conference with the bestowing of the 'Outstanding Service Award.' It's wonderful to be acknowledged for the work that I've done for the organization over the years (I started volunteering my time with them in the late 80's) but the latent introvert in me was, um, uncomfortable with the higher profile I had at the conference. Nothing 'rock star,' just a lot of people saying 'Thank you.' and 'Well-deserved.' which was enormously gratifying.
Kids start school again in a little over a week. Boy is in fifth grade - his last at the elementary school - and Girl is in third grade. Sadly, Boy's third-grade teacher has retired, so Girl won't have the opportunity that Boy had. (She was a wonderful teacher.) We find out at the end of this week who their teachers will be for this year.
OK, that's enough for now.
