Father's Day

Yes, it's Father's Day. That Hallmark holiday where kids of all ages honor their dear old dads with cards, drawings, and gifts.

Yes, it's all good. But... as far as I'm concerned, every day is Father's Day. (And Mother's Day, too, just so you think I'm slighting the other 50% of this partnership.)

Becoming a father was the most awe-inspiring, life-changing event of my life, bar none. It's the greatest job I'll ever have, and I treasure every single day I have. Is it difficult at times? Sure thing. There are frustrations and complications and "what the heck just happened here?" moments here, just as everywhere else. (If life went according to plan, it'd be rather boring, now wouldn't it?)

Dear Son (DS) is finishing second grade, and dear daughter (DS) is finishing kindergarten, though she's down with a fever and an extremely stuffy nose today. Funny how quickly the time goes; it seems like yesterday, literally, that I wrote about her starting kindergarten, and now she's three days away from being done with kindergarten.
